The Kia Optima is a very popular sedan. Why? Well, it has an affordable price tag, excellent resale value… and… an awesome factory warranty.
It’s a mid-size sedan, but roomy enough for the entire family. It’s comfortable to drive and comes with tons of standard features.
The 2015 Kia Optima was upgraded and contains amenities not found on previous models. There’s a few other features that you might want to know about.
The 2015 Kia Optima Review
1) Spacious Cabin
The cockpit of the 2015 Kia Optima is very luxurious. It has a comforting European style that will make you feel right at home.
Your passengers will appreciate the extra legroom in the rear seating area. The seats are nicely designed. Not too soft or hard. The SXL trim has premium leather upholstery and accents.
The material quality is very advanced and high grade… which is surprising because of the low price tag.
2) Several Trim Options
The base trim comes with the following features:
- 16-inch alloy wheels.
- Heated mirrors.
- Power accessories.
- Cruise control.
- Tilt-telescopic steering wheel.
- Power adjustable driver’s seat with height control.
- 6 speaker stereo system and Bluetooth connectivity.
The EX trim has all of the above features, except for the wheel size. It’s actually an inch bigger.
The SX trim (the luxury trim) has:
- LED taillights.
- Advanced gauge and instrument control cluster.
- Steering wheel mounted paddle shifters
You can purchase a turbocharged engine with it… as well as an adjustable drive mode. This is a pleasant feature if you like to switch it up.
The premium SXL has these features:
- Distinctive exterior trim accents
- Xenon headlights
- Premium leather upholstery
- LED foglights
- 18-inch wheels
3) Technology Packages.
If you opt in for the technology package, here’s what comes included:
- Rear parking sensors.
- Blind spot and cross-traffic monitors.
- Larger touchscreen.
If you get the SX trim without the turbocharged engine, you can get the same features as the technology package.
4) UVO Electronics Interface
Looking for a flashy and easy-to-use display? If so, then you’ll love what’s inside the Kia Optima. You can use voice control of the UVO system so that you can call people hands-free while you’re driving.
The touchscreen is easy to use for route-finding and operating the stereo system.
5) Engine Performance.
The 2015 Kia Optima comes with a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive. It can crank out a whopping 192 horsepower with the base engine.
If you get the more advanced trims, the engine is smaller at 2.0L… but can deliver 274 horsepower. 6 Speed automatic transmission comes on every single trim level.
If you step on the gas, the acceleration time from 0 to 60 mpg is only 9 seconds. Not too shabby. That’s about average for this sedan type, though.
The suspension is very compensating, giving you a smooth ride… even on rough road surfaces. No more spilling your coffee driving up the back roads!
6) Excellent Safety Features.
If you get in an accident, the front side and side-curtain airbags will shield you like a huge balloon. They come iin every single trim on the 2015 Kia Optima.
Stability and traction control are included as well… along with anti-lock disc brakes. These are extremely useful in the winter months when the roads get slippery.
The higher-level trims have technologically advanced safety features such as a rearview camera and roadside assistance. This is useful when backing out of tight parking spaces.
Every Kia Optima comes with 3-point seatbelts, anchors and tethers for child booster seats, and child-proof rear door locks and window controls. That’s what makes it an awesome family vehicle.
7) Top Marks In Crash Test Scores.
The safety performance testing for the 2014 Kia Optima was impressive. Why? Well, it pretty much hit the highest possible score.
The tests included frontal impact and side-impact. Plus… it received a great score for moderate overlap collision and roof strength tests. If Spiderman landed on the roof of your car, chances are it wouldn’t cave in!
8) Great Warranty.
It comes with a 10-year powertrain warranty and 36-month bumper-to-bumper coverage. Repairs are free at any Kia dealership service department, if any of your parts fail.
The warranty has covered for rust, too… as well as a limited coverage for roadside assistance.
9) Excellent Resale Value.
If you’re planning on selling your Kia Optima down the road, you’ll be glad to know that it barely depreciates over its first 3 years of ownership. The model has one of the highest private-party sales value of any car in its class… especially if it’s been driven less than 15K miles per year.
10) Family-Sized Sedan.
There’s a more comfortable driving experience with competing models… BUT the Kia Optima out-performs every other sedan when it comes to passenger comfort.
Why? Well, the cabin is very spacious. It can easily sit two adults and three kids.
It’s a solid pick if you’re looking for a reliable family sedan. The amazing warranty means long-term ownership… and… the price of repairs aren’t as high.
The fuel efficiency isn’t too great and the interface isn’t super high-tech… but that also means it’s less confusing. Do you really need all those extra buttons? For most people, they just cause major headaches.
You won’t have that with the 2015 Kia Optima. It’s simplistic in its design. And the price is very affordable for a vehicle that has such a long life-span.
