2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs. 2016 Ford F-150
If you’re a truck lover, then you already know how deeply rooted the rivalry is between the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado.
Think about it, there’s even Facebook groups dedicated to the rivalry. And there’s nothing that’s more entertaining than mocking your buddy that drives a Chevy… or an F-150 (depending on which side you’re on).
… but the truth is, it’s been a one-sided battle for the most part. Why? Well, for the past 39 years, the Ford F-150 has been America’s best-selling pickup truck.
But that doesn’t mean the Chevrolet Silverado isn’t competitive. In fact, it comes quite close to matching the Ford F-150.
Both are great trucks, but the Ford still lands higher on the totem pole in terms of quality, safety and comfort.
The 2016 Ford F-150
The styling of the Ford F-150 is similar to the Chevrolet Silverado, but we have to declare the Ford F-150 as the winner. It has a blocky aluminum body, which compensates for its light weight.
Every curve is detailed to cut through wind at high-speeds. The cabin balances an industrial aesthetic with a modern comfort look.
When it comes to driving, the Ford’s electric power-steering will make it feel as if you’re gliding around corners… or sliding into different lanes.
It’s incredibly smooth and easy to handle. And, its more of a silent rocket, with no loud rumble… even when you hit the pedal to the metal.
The F-150’s engine power surpasses the Chevrolet Silverado’s by far. The V6 engine belts out a whopping 365 horsepower… and… has a towing capacity of 8,500 pounds.
… and with the V8, you can tow up to 12,200 pounds. If you have a large trailer for work… or if you have a RV trailer, then the F-150 might be your best pick when it comes to towing power.
Plus… the Ford F-150 is better economically. You will get more miles per gallon compared to the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado.
Comfort and Quality
When it comes to comfort and quality, Ford F-150 takes the crown. This is mostly due to the innovative bed features.
The F-150 has loading ramps that attach and lock to the sides of the bed. If you have an ATV or a snowmobile, this feature will make your life a LOT easier.
And if you carry around a lot of cargo… or like to go on long road trips, then you can use the clever BotLink system to anchor down your cargo.
Know what that means? Time to toss out those old, worn out bungee cables.
… plus there’s LED lights so that you can see what’s inside the bed during the night-time… and… there’s even a deployable bed step that you can use to climb into the bed with ease.
The F-150 has some pretty cool features, highlighted by the new Sync 3 infotainment system. It’s easier to use than the MyFord Touch… which… has received criticism in the past.
Ford also offers a Pro Trailer Backup Assist option that will control your steering when backing up into a tight spot.
The F-150 is undoubtedly the most safe pickup truck on the market. Why? It has a five-star government crash test rating. and top safety pick from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety).
It also has additional braking help through curve control, blind-spot monitors and lane keep assist.
NOTE: The Ford F-150 you see in the picture above is a truck that we’re currently holding on our lot. It has low miles on the clock (11,045) and it comes with a full warranty. You can finance it for only $718 per month for 72 months.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Chevrolet Silverado, unlike the Ford F-150, has a heavier body due to it being created out of pure steel. It has a chiseled, boxy shape… and… the interior matches the exterior.
The interior has the classic Chevrolet design, and the more expensive models even have polished wood trimming.
The handling is very response and smooth, and we have no complaints with how the Silverado drives. It’s about on-par with the 2016 Ford F-150.
The Chevy’s 5.2 liter V8 engine belts out a whopping 335 horsepower and tows up to 11,500 pounds, whereas the 5.6 liter V8 can tow up to 12,000 pounds. It almost matches the F-150s towing power… but it’s not quite as powerful.
Comfort and Quality
The Silverado has tailgate steps that slide out, making it easier for you to climb into the bed. There’s a picket-style rail on each side of the rear bumper to use a support. On the tailgate there are LED lights that will make it easier for you to see in the dark.
… but the amount of features in the bed simply doesn’t compare to the F-150.
Inside the cabin, the Chevy sports a MyLink infotainment system with a built-in screen… and… it has an OnStar 4G LTE Hotspot capability. This sort of entertainment will make your rides more enjoyable and less boring.
Like the F-150, the Chevrolet Silverado has a five-star government crash test rating… however, the IIHS ratings are incomplete.
Chevrolet also offers intelligent high-beam headlights, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning.
NOTE: The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 you see in the picture above is a truck that we’re currently holding on our lot. It has low miles on the clock (7,710) and it comes with a full warranty. You can finance it for only $518 per month for 72 months.

The 2016 Ford F-150 comes out on top over the Chevrolet Silverado in four out of six categories, which makes it the winner in this competition.
There’s a reason why the F-150 has been the top selling truck in America for 39 years straight… and that’s because Ford has never stopped innovating their trucks.
The F-150 is simply a more advanced package… but if you can find a Chevrolet Silverado for cheaper than an F-150, then you may be better off to go with the Silverado.
The Chevrolet Silverado is still a great truck. It offers great safety features, towing capabilities… and… a smooth ride every single time..
