Whenever you get a new vehicle, it always feels like it drives smooth right off the bat. (At least we hope so!)
This is because you probably aren’t getting your vehicle serviced as much as your old beater. But, that doesn’t mean that problems can’t creep up on you.
Even though all of our vehicles are in great condition at Direct Auto Mall, they will still need to be well maintained down the road.
Every car needs to be well maintained, no matter if it’s new… or old. The best way to keep your vehicle out of the shop for more serious issues is by actually bringing it in more often.
Yes, you read that right. You will need to make sure all the little things are in perfect working condition.
But usually we forget about servicing our vehicles in the shuffles of life… which is why we recommend that you stick to a strict maintenance schedule.
If you’re asking yourself “how often should I get my oil change, tire rotation or tune up?”, then chances are it might already be time. Here’s how to know for sure…
How Often Should I Get My Car Serviced?
When it comes to oil changes, older vehicles should follow the rule of “every 3,000 miles.” But for many new vehicles, they can last much longer than that without getting an oil change.
In newer vehicles you will be able to tell how much oil is left in the tank by checking the dipstick. This makes it much easier to keep an eye on your oil… instead of watching your odometer reading like a hawk.
When it comes to tire technology, they haven’t really changed over the past decade. Usually every 5,000 to 8,000 miles you will want to get your tire rotation checked out.
In fact, you might want to bring it in for a check up if you’ve reached 4,000 miles. Why? Well… each tire carries a different weight… which… means they can wear out quickly.
Rotating results in an even wear… so that you can go longer without having to replace your tires.
General Service, Fluid Check
There are two important fluids in your vehicle that you do not want to run low. In fact, you should check both of these fluids at least once a month for optimum performance.
What are they? Your power steering and transmission fluid. These two fluids are vital to your engine’s performance. If they’re on the low-end of the spectrum, it could cause major engine damage.
… but brake fluid can be checked when you change your oil. As for engine coolant, it only needs to be looked at once or twice a year. It’s important to check to the timing belt, water pump and hoses… but not until you exceed 60,000 miles and get closer to the 100,000 mark.
If you keep an eye on all of this, your vehicle will last you for many years. And instead of doing it yourself, why not let our service team do it for you?
You can get all of this plus much more for just $9.99 at our dealership in Framingham, Massachusetts. Think about it, that’s less than a dinner for two!
Isn’t your peace of mind worth getting our service package? You will keep your car running great for many years from this small token investment alone.
