The BMW X5 is a great example of excellent German engineering and luxurious European styling. No wonder it’s been a hot seller since it was debuted in 1999.
But why buy the BMW X5? There’s a few reasons. You see, the SUV is a great family vehicle for those who don’t mind spending a little extra money.
It’s quite the lavish vehicle and does have an expensive price tag, however. Here you’ll find 9 reasons why you should by the vehicles… and some reasons why you shouldn’t.
But everyone’s different and you can weigh out the pros and cons on your own. You see, finding a vehicle is a special experience. There’s no one-size fits all.
So without further ado, here’s our review on the 2015 BMW x5…
The 2015 BMW X5 comes in several different options, including: the sDrive35i, xDrive35i, xDrive35d and xDrive50i.
A big addition to the 2015 model is the leather finish on the steering wheel.
- Power Engine Options
The X5 sDrive35i and xDrive 35i have a 3.0L TwinPower Turbo engine that can belt out 300 horsepower. Whereas the xDrive35d comes with a 3.0 L 6 cylinder engine that runs n diesel.
It’s not as powerful as the other models, but it’s fairly close at 255 horsepower. The 4.4 L V8 TwinPower is the real 800-pound gorilla… churning out a whopping 445 horsepower.
2. Very Lavish and Flashy Interior
It’s equipped with Dakota leather upholstery for all of the seats in the BMW. The finish is combined with poplar wood trimming to give it that sparkling glow.
The velour carpeting enhances the the interior much better than regular, run-of-the-mill floor mats.
3. Climate Control
The climate control system has two different zones. So if you’re sick of your kids in the back seat saying it’s too hot or too cold… then this might be the answer.
You won’t have to worry about accommodating the backseat passengers. They can take care of themselves.
Plus… the front seats have 3-stage heating elements to keep your bottom warm during the cold winter months (which is fast approaching, might I add. Be sure to book your vehicle in for a winter maintenance package at Direct Auto Mall now!)
4 Great, Health Conscious Ergonomics
The front of the BMW X5 xDrive50i has power seats that are contoured shaped with lumbar supports to support your neck and spine.
The other trims come with power front seats that have memory position functions. Plus… the humongous armrest lets the passengers in the rear seats stay comfortable.
5 Responsive Handling and Smooth Acceleration
Many people praise the agile handling of the 2015 BMW X5, no thanks to the 8 Speed automatic transmission. The sport mode makes it easy to accelerate swiftly on the highway and maintain cruising speed.
The all wheel drive combines nicely with the advanced adaptive transmission control design. The X5 took inspiration from the drivetrain of sports cars.
The electric power steering is linked to signature German Servotronic technology for excellent cruise control.
6 Automatic Controls For Safer and More Convenient Drive
The right side mirror automatically tilts so that you can have a clearer visibility of the road behind you. Don’t you hate it when you’re driving up a hill and can’t see people in the rear view?
Well, with the X5… the mirror will tilt downward as you go up a hill. Both side mirrors have responsive dimming designs, too.
The headlamps turn on automatically, too… so you can see how much more convenient it will be to drive an X5.
8 Digital Safety Features
The 2015 BMW X5 have tiny sensors that control the deployment of airbags and tightening of seat belts. The crash sensor will automatically disconnect the battery terminal and fuel pump to drastically prevent the risk of explosions in case there’s a collision.
9 Extra Protection For Occupants
There’s even head restrains that are available in all oft he seats. The head protection system protects the faces and upper bodies of all passengers. Imagine how much safer it will be for your family in the event of an accident?
This restraint system is also enhanced with added threshold in the front airbags.
10 Superior Braking
The disc brakes are installed on all four wheels of the BMW X5. Anti-locking braking technology is improved with advanced features like brake control and brake face compensation. The brake drying is engineered to improve stopping power when the road is slippery.
This will be extremely helpful if you drive over a sheet of black ice… or have to plow through snow.
